Sedgley is an extensive parish, in the northern division of the hundred of Seisdon: the village which is densely populated, is 3 miles N.N.W. from Dudley and the like distance S. from Wolverhampton; situated in the midst of a county abounding with coal, ironstone and limestone. The colleries are valuable and the iron trade most extensive; the latter comprising the manufacturer of nails, screws, chains, fire irons and a variety of other articles.
