Picture shows John ASTON, born 16 Nov 1812 in Bilston, son of Edward and Susannah (ALLEN) ASTON.
Edward was born in Bilston but his family were from Sedgley. John died 19 April 1894 in Ettingshall. John's wife is Mary (nee DARBEY) born 29 July 1816 in Sedgley, believed to be the daughter of John DARBEY and Elizabeth (nee THOMPSON). Mary died 5 April 1889 in Bilston.

Joseph (1842 Bilston),
William (1844 Bilston),
Thomas 1st left (1846 Bilston),
Mary Ann (1849 Bilston)
Elizabeth (1854 Bilston).
NB {We can date the photograph fairly precisely by the combination and rough ages of the children. In the summer of 1856 they had just lost two little girls in fairly quick succession and obviously wanted to record the family they still had. In fact they went on to have another daughter in
1860, but by the time she was old enough to be the toddler in the picture, the other children would be too old}
